Privacy Policy

LaGrub provides a recipe, cookbook, and culinary content platform available on the web and as mobile apps. This policy covers all of these surfaces and is the same Service regardless of how you access it.

This policy describes the information we handle, why we handle it, the choices you have, and how you can contact us. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the Service.

Account and identity information: We offer sign-in through Google. When you create an account or log in, we receive your Google account identifier, email address, name, and profile photo as provided by Google. We use this to create and secure your account.

Subscription and payment information: If you purchase a paid plan, our payment processor (Stripe) handles your card and billing details. We do not store full card numbers. We retain a customer reference, your subscription status, plan, billing period dates, cancellation status, and related records needed to manage your subscription and any referral rewards.

Content you create: We store content and activity you generate in the Service, such as reviews and ratings (which may include your name, email, and avatar), comments, favorites, and recipes you mark as cooked.

Device and notification data: If you enable push notifications, we store a device messaging token so we can deliver notifications, along with basic device information.

Automatically collected and technical data: When you use the Service, we automatically collect technical and usage information such as IP address, device and browser type, the pages or screens you view, actions you take, request timestamps, and similar diagnostic and security log data.

Communications: If you contact us or submit a form, we keep the information you provide so we can respond and keep a record of the request.

To provide and operate the Service, including authenticating you, maintaining your account, saving your favorites and activity, and showing your subscriber content.

To process subscriptions and payments, manage renewals and cancellations, and administer the referral program.

To communicate with you, including sending transactional messages (such as welcome, sign-in or password-reset codes, billing reminders, and subscription notices) and, where permitted, marketing messages and push notifications.

To secure the Service, detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access, and to maintain audit and diagnostic logs.

To improve and personalize content, understand which recipes and features are useful, and improve performance and reliability.

To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on: performance of our contract with you (to provide the Service you request); your consent (for example, for marketing communications, which you can withdraw at any time); our legitimate interests (such as securing the Service and improving it); and compliance with legal obligations (such as financial recordkeeping).

We do not sell your personal information.

We share limited information with service providers (sub-processors) who help us run the Service, and only for that purpose. These include: Google (for sign-in and for sending email), Stripe (for payment and subscription processing), Firebase Cloud Messaging (for push notifications), our cloud storage provider (for storing media such as images and video), and our email provider (for transactional and account messages).

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of users, or in connection with a business transfer such as a merger or acquisition.

With your consent where required, we may send you marketing emails or push notifications about new recipes, cookbooks, features, and offers. Transactional messages that are necessary to operate your account (such as sign-in codes, billing reminders, and subscription notices) are not marketing and may still be sent.

You can opt out of marketing at any time: use the unsubscribe link in our marketing emails, turn off push notifications in your device settings, or contact us at hello@lagrub.com. We will honor your choice promptly.

We retain your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service.

When you request account deletion, we begin a 30-day grace period (described below). After the grace period, we remove or anonymize your identifying information.

We may retain certain records longer where necessary for legal, tax, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes, such as subscription, payment, and referral records associated with your account.

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to opt out of marketing.

You can exercise many of these directly in the app (for example, updating your profile or deleting your account), or by contacting us at hello@lagrub.com. We will respond consistent with applicable law. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

You can delete your account at any time from the app: open Settings and choose Delete Account. When you do, your account is scheduled for deletion and you are signed out of all sessions.

There is a 30-day grace period. If you log back in during those 30 days, the deletion is automatically canceled and your account is restored.

After the 30-day grace period, we permanently remove or anonymize your identifying information, including your email, Google identifier, name, and profile photo. Some non-identifying records may be retained where required for legal or financial recordkeeping.

If you are unable to use the in-app option, you can request deletion by emailing hello@lagrub.com.

The Service is intended for users who are at least 13 years old. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate consent, we will delete it as quickly as possible.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at hello@lagrub.com so we can take appropriate action.

We use technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit, secure handling of authentication tokens, and access controls.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately.

We and our service providers may process and store your information in countries other than the one in which you live. Where we transfer personal information across borders, we take steps to ensure it remains protected consistent with this policy and applicable law.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will post the updated policy here and revise the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
